Estes Park Radio News
As most of you know if you live in the Estes Park area, AM 1470 has been off the air for most of the past year. The station has a new owner, and we understand that he is planning to put it back on the air by this fall. According to FCC records, the new owner is Victor Michael of Loveland, CO. He has changed the call letters from KRBR to KDEB.
Radio has changed tremendously since KSIR left the air. There is much more competition now, not only from other radio stations but even other types of content delivery such as iPods and online streaming. What do you think? Will the new AM 1470 be more successful than the previous ones? Does Estes have too many stations already?
One thing we think radio does better than any other medium, and that is local news and information in the event of an emergency. Estes Park has had a few of those over the years, including the Big Thompson Canyon flood, the Lawn Lake flood, and the fires this summer.

Local Bands and Musicians
Cowboy Brad is a local country western folk singer and songwriter from Estes Park. Visit Cowboy Brad's web site at CowboyBrad.com. We understand that Brad's mom wrote the winning song for KSIR back in the day... we're looking for a copy!
Vandelay Industries is a local band from Fort Collins/Estes Park. We just released our first studio EP at the beginning of this month, and we are trying to spread the word. Our EP is called "Critter" and it was produced by punk legend Bill Stevenson (Black Flag, Descendants, All, Rise Against) at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins. Our sound has been compared to that of Weezer, The Weakerthans, and Modest Mouse to name a few. Give us a listen!
